As a former hospital executive, the most rewarding part of my work was helping others move from point A to point B. Most often, my work did not stop at the time clock. It became crystal clear that in order for my team to deliver its best work, connecting with them as individuals and helping them align personal and professional goals yielded the greatest success.
Let me share a bit of my own personal transition. My change began when I was fired from an organization I had worked at for many years. Yup, that’s right. I considered it my first real failure and it was certainly devastating. Not long after that, my 25-year marriage hit the rocks and ended in a divorce. Needless to say, my world was turned upside down. Over the course of the next 6 months, I gave myself permission to emotionally accept all of the changes in my life. It took me a bit to get re-grounded and feel that both feet were firmly planted. At that point I made a very conscious decision. I decided to regain control of my life. It wasn’t easy but I had to dig deep and determine who I was and where I was going.
After that I began my path forward. I started by walking away from the career I’d spent nearly 20 years building. It wasn’t making me happy and I was ready for a change. I called on all of my years of training and experience. That was probably the most important moment for me. I DECIDED. Once I made the decision about what I wanted, it was one step at a time with no looking back.
I went on to create a publishing company, write two books and co-author another. It also became clear that over the years, that I was not taking very good care of myself. I suffered from dry, scaly legs (I’m embarrassed to admit). As a nurse, I’ve cared for patients and saw first hand the importance of caring for our skin. So what was I doing? That led to the creation of Spoiled Naturally. My line of natural bath and body products is formulated to help you keep beautiful and naturally moisturized skin. It was my gift to myself and we now share it with you and the world!
